Controlling Characters Live in Moviesandbox with Windows Input devices
Installing Multi HID Input
Download the Multi HID Input Application[1].
This program will only work on Windows XP!
Unzip the files anywhere you like, but i would suggest you unzip it someplace inside your Moviesandbox directory. It contains a .exe file called "Multi HID Input.exe". You will need the latest version of DirectX[2] and the dotNET Framework V2.0[3] installed.
Working with Devices
Multi HID Input allows the communication of an Input device such as a joypad or a WiiMote with Moviesandbox. As for now, i would advise testing a simple gamepad or joystick. WiiMote and Gamtrak testing will be explained soon.
- Connect a Gamepad.
- Open Multi HID Input - the gamepad should be listed in the white box.
- set the Channel to 1
- Hit the Connect Button - you should see numbers appear on the text box on the right that correspond to the state of the gamepad.
- Open Moviesandbox with the DM-1on1-Albatross level (for a start).
- Place a standrad Unreal Pawn.
- If you never created a pose, try and do that now. Look here if you don't know how.
- Right click on your Pawn.
- select UdpPadChannel and type in 1.
- select Pad
- click on the Button 1 and select a Pose.
- De-select by clicking on an empty part of the screen.
- hit space to start the movie.
- press the button corresponding to 1 and see if the character takes the pose youo assigned.
- repeat for different buttons and poses.
